Weather
station
Today Aigoual is the last remaining mountain meteorological
station in France. The daily work consists of continuous observation
of the weather with detailed forecasting for the Aigoual Massif.
Observation
Meteorology
is based on observation, indispensable for forecasting the
weather and classifying a region's climate.
All year the meteorologist examines the sky from the Mont
Aigoual station tower from a quarter to six in the morning
to a quarter to seven in the evening. He is helped by countless
electronic instruments outside the building which continuously
measure the data for temperature, air humidity, atmospheric
pressure, precipitation, and wind direction and speed.
All this information is gathered together by the automatic
Miria station which feeds the observations into a CAOBS processor.
Observations are sent hourly to the international
meteorological
network from this processor...
